JUNE 3, 2022: The NHL Alumni Association (NHLAA) held its Board of Directors and Chapter Presidents’ Annual General Meeting in Buffalo, NY and virtually on Thursday, June 2nd, 2022. We are pleased to welcome Ryan Malone as the newest addition to the NHLAA’s Board of Directors. With 11 years of experience in the NHL and a passion for helping other Alumni, Ryan brings a tremendous amount of energy and drive to our organization. Stepping down from the Board of Directors is Douglas Murray who held the position of Board Member for one year. We thank Douglas for his service, dedication and contributions to the growth of the NHLAA and wish him all the best.
Over the past several years the NHLAA has aimed to build an organization that honours the players who laid the foundation for the game we love today. This is the ‘House We Built’ and let’s continue to build, together, as one team.
NHL Alumni Association Board of Directors:
Newest Addition
Ryan Malone began his NHL career on Oct. 10th, 2003, taking to his hometown ice as a Pittsburgh Penguin to face the LA Kings. Following in his father’s footsteps (Greg Malone), this game would mark the first step of an 11-season NHL career that spanned 647 games, 179 goals, 191 assists, and 370 points. After spending his first four full seasons with the Penguins, Malone would be traded to the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2008. Malone played six seasons with the Lightning, establishing himself as a commanding and valuable player. After his tenure with the Lightning, the New York Rangers acquired Malone for one last season where he would complete his NHL career. Ryan is also a 2004 World Championship Bronze Medalist and 2010 Olympic Siver Medalist. In his retirement, Malone has become an active member of the NHL Alumni Association and we are honoured to have him play a larger role within our organization.
Let’s all give a warm welcome to our newest member of our Board of Directors.
