Ken Baumgartner – Treasurer

Ken Baumgartner was a feared enforcer in the NHL over 12 seasons (1987–2000), known largely for his physicality and team‑first grit. Drafted 245th overall by Buffalo in 1985, he made his NHL debut with the Los Angeles Kings before solidifying his reputation with the New York Islanders, where his arrival helped spark a dramatic 23‑6‑3 run . A classic “brawler with a brain,” he amassed 2,242 penalty minutes in 696 NHL games, while scoring a modest 13 goals and 41 assists for 54 points . He is the only NHL player to complete a full 82-game season recording just 1 point . Off the ice, Baumgartner earned a business and finance degree from Hofstra University while playing, served as vice-president of the NHL Players’ Association during the 1994–95 collective bargaining agreement, and later joined Boston’s coaching staff after retiring.
