Jamal Mayers – Board Member

Jamal Mayers was a gritty, physical right winger who played 14 NHL seasons (1996–2013) across five teams—most notably the St. Louis Blues, and concluding with a Stanley Cup win in 2013 with the Chicago Blackhawks. He appeared in 915 regular-season games, scoring 90 goals219 points, and accumulating 1,200 penalty minutes. Mayers’ strength lay in his work ethic, physical presence, and team-first attitude—consistently contributing on the penalty kill, blocking shots, and setting the tone with hits and grit . Internationally, he represented Canada at three World Championships, helping win gold in 2007 and silver in 2008. After retiring in December 2013, Mayers became a broadcaster and community liaison for the Blackhawks and continues to advocate for diversity and inclusion in hockey, working with youth programs and the NHL’s inclusion coalition.
