Mark Messier – Board Member

Mark Messier was one of the most iconic and accomplished players in NHL history, best known for his leadership, toughness, and ability to elevate his play in crucial moments. Over a 25-season career (1979–2004), he played for the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, and Vancouver Canucks, winning six Stanley Cups—five with Edmonton and one with New York. Messier was a key part of the Oilers’ 1980s dynasty, playing alongside Wayne Gretzky and later captaining the team to a Cup in 1990 after Gretzky’s departure. In 1994, he famously guaranteed and delivered a Game 6 win in the Eastern Conference Finals, then led the Rangers to their first Stanley Cup in 54 years, cementing his legacy as a clutch performer and unmatched leader. He won the Hart Trophy as league MVP twice (1990, 1992) and finished his career with 1,887 points, second all-time at retirement. A 15-time All-Star and two-time MVP, Messier was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2007.
