Paul Coffey – Board Member

Paul Coffey was one of the greatest offensive defensemen in NHL history, known for his blazing speed, smooth skating, and ability to produce points at a forward’s pace. Over a 21-season career (1980–2001), Coffey played for nine NHL teams, most notably the Edmonton Oilers, where he was a vital part of their 1980s dynasty. He won four Stanley Cups—three with Edmonton (1984, 1985, 1987) and one with Pittsburgh (1991)—and captured the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s best defenseman three times. Coffey ranks second all-time among defensemen in points (1,531) and goals (396), trailing only Ray Bourque. His 138-point season in 1985–86 remains a record for defensemen not named Bobby Orr. Coffey was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004, recognized for redefining the defenseman’s role with his offensive flair and end-to-end rushes. He’s best known for his elite skating, offensive instincts, and being a transformative force on the blue line.
