Gerry Meehan’s impact on hockey reached far beyond the scoresheet. Over a distinguished NHL career, he wore the sweaters of the Toronto Maple Leafs, Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Atlanta Flames, and Washington Capitals, earning respect across the league for his skill, competitiveness, and professionalism.<\/p>\n
While still playing, Gerry earned a law degree, a quiet show of the discipline that would define every chapter of his life. After hanging up his skates, he became General Manager of the Buffalo Sabres and went on to senior executive roles with the NHL, becoming one of the most respected leaders in the game.<\/p>\n
But Gerry’s greatest legacy lives in the people he lifted up. Long after his playing days ended, he remained a mentor and friend to former players navigating the difficult transition out of hockey. He understood that life after the game could be hard, and he quietly devoted himself to helping others find their footing, a trusted advisor and steady presence to anyone who needed him.<\/p>\n
At the heart of it all was his family, his wife Mirella, his children, and his grandchildren, who were the source of his deepest pride and joy.<\/p>\n
